What a great find! The food is fresh and fabulous. My husband and I each had salads. My Ceaser was crisp with a great dressing, his House was fresh with a delicious Blue Cheese dressing. They make everything in house. We each had pizza. The crust was so nice and crisp and airy. The toppings were freshly sauteed and the meats were made right here. Reba made us feel right at home. She was friendly and provided excellent service. Don't forget to have her make you a martini. She makes them great!

My husband and I just had a wonderful lunch at Agates bar and restsurant. We shared the chef's favorite pizza (garlic white sauce, spinach, bacon and gorgonzola) and a tuna burger on a brioch bun. Both were excellent. We will definitely return since we spend a lot of time in port orford.

Agates used to be Port and Starboard, which we haven't been to in quite a while because the food was decent but the decor was dark and old. Went in the other night to check out the new ownership and the interior is so much better! Very simple, but newly painted, much more open and light, and new shiny diner booths. A huge improvement! Our waitress was the manager and she was fun, very playful with our kids. She knew everything about how the food was made and it seemed they used fresh, local ingredients and cooked with pride. We got a large pepperoni pizza for the kids which had homemade crust and sauce, they loved it. My husband had chicken fried steak and it was literally divine, made from scratch gravy can't be beat. I had the biscuit stacker. Whoah. A huge biscuit, a chicken tender, 2 crispy bacon strips, an egg, all covered in that homemade gravy. It was amazing. Oh, try the sidewinders, with homemade ranch. So good. They've done a great job.

The food is the star here - fresh, tastes like homemade, everything from scratch, creative and delicious. Love the lemon chicken with capers over fettuccini, the homemade raviolis (ask for alfredo with a little marinara on the side), their large entree salads. And fresh onion rings!!! Oh....and don't forget the pizza - dough and sauce all handmade...wonderful. Don't drive by it because it doesn't look like much from the outside...they're still fixing it up. But the food is outstanding (really!) and everyone is so nice. We're locals and we get takeout a couple of times a week.

Great pizza, loved spinach and bacon. Makes her own pizza dough. This is a new owner and making great changes. Still growing her business and ideas. New paint colors and deco, new booths. Food is both American traditional along with innovative dishes. I will go again.

Found this little place on a recent trip through the area, it was lunch time and we were looking for some decent food, yelp pointed us towards Agates. It's a little hard to recognize the place as there is no exterior signage, so the solid color plain building is easy to drive past. We noticed all of the vehicles in the parking lot, so we pulled in and asked. The right side of the building is the bar, which I walked into first, they pointed us to the next door. Once inside the restaurant part - we knew we were in the right place because all of the local police were there eating... a sure sign of decent food. Even used my Yelp check-in and got 10% off my entire bill - worth checking in for. A nice sized space, with wait service. Our server was kind and professional and made us feel welcome. Cold local craft beers on tap and in the bottle. With a mix of American traditional and Italian foods - we settled on one of the house specials - a spinach, gorgonzola cheese and bacon pizza - ordered a large, it was more than enough to feed the three of us with a couple slices left to go. The pizza was great, a homemade thin crust that was baked to perfection and the toppings an even cheesy blend with a mix of bacon and spinach on that yummy crust. My wife and I both enjoyed it very much, our son not so much but he is not a fan of the blue cheeses or bacon - teenagers... Kind of in the middle of nowhere, on the 101 in southern coastal Oregon - a great place to grab a bite to eat and a cold drink. Worth the stop and glad we did - hope to stop again sometime too. 00255

We loved this food! I got a super thin and delicious pizza (sautéed spinach, gorgonzola and bacon on home made dough) and my hubby had tenderloin wrapped in bacon with mashed potatoes and carrots. Yummm! Now we will have to go back! ;)

This is the new Agates Food and Bar former home of the old Port and Starboard. Looks like the place received a much needed facelift and some classy updates since our last visit....stopped in for dinner with my wife and was pleasantly surprised by the great service and excellent food. Food came out sizzling hot and quick !!! We had a couple appetizers and on our servers recommendation split the chicken fried steak which is clearly made from scratch and very tasty. When driving through Port Orford be sure to try this place!
